President Approves Dispatching Armed Forces into Chicago, while Judge Blocks Oregon City Troop Movement.
On Saturday, the White House stated that the President has authorized the deployment of the national guard to the Illinois city, at the same time as a federal judge prevented his administration from dispatching personnel to Portland.
Executive Branch Reveals Chicago Troop Dispatch
An official representative for the White House stated that the chief executive had approved using the state of Illinois militia personnel, referencing what she labeled “ongoing violent riots and lawlessness” that municipal authorities have been unable to stop.
In Oregon, court official the presiding judge agreed with the state’s assertion that the administration sending federal national guard troops to the city would potentially worsen rather than ease demonstrations.
“The court's decision supports what residents of Oregon already know: justice has been served, and reality triumphed,” the top official in Oregon commented following the legal injunction was granted. “No uprising is occurring in the city. The country is not endangered. No flames, no bombs, no deaths due to public protests.”
Chief Executive Calls Decision Unnecessary
Illinois' top official, the governor labeled the move unjustified and “a staged event – not a serious effort to protect public safety.”
Judicial Official Prevents Oregon City Guard Movement
The President has suffered a setback to his strategy of deploying forces to Democrat-led cities he calls disorderly, following a federal court halted his government's effort to deploy the national guard to Portland.
Trump had stated on September 27 that he would deploy troops to the city, “authorizing Maximum Strength, if needed”, disregarding requests from city authorities and the the state's federal lawmakers. A group of seventeen city leaders in the region had opposed the troop movement.
