19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts
A comeback the Russian player secured his first championship for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult year, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former mentor Cervara.
Now collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.
It is the player's initial trophy after the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt after March of that year.
The win also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my children together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion.
"This victory is in honour of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in that event earlier this year.
Medvedev's retrieving play style and frequent reactions on the tennis court had led commentators to question if his capacity to play at the elite level was concluded.
However the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, supported by an improved service.
Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the last five points to go ahead.
Both players traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.
Moutet rescued 4 initial chances in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Appropriately, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
