Prince William plans to participate in the COP30 climate summit in South America in the coming weeks, according to palace sources.

Prince William and King Charles appeared together on Thursday evening at a gathering ahead of the environmental conference, which is planned for in the Amazonian city of Belem.

The King and Prince were present at the museum gathering, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a pre-COP30 gathering organized in partnership with the British authorities.

Climate Leadership Commitment

The King has been a long-time champion of environmental conservation - and the Prince of Wales has inherited the mission, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be held in Brazil ahead of the climate conference.

Royal sources have described Prince William's attendance at the forthcoming conference as taking on an crucial position in "climate diplomacy".

Previous Activities

The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the royal vehicle, were introduced to guests including conservation experts, researchers, environmental activists, diplomats and politicians.

This involvement included speaking alongside President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other international figures at the Marine Economy Conference in Monaco during the current year.

Environmental Prize Connection

The climate conference will dovetail with the William's personal Earthshot environmental awards, which will finish in Rio de Janeiro the eve of he participates in the climate conference on November 6th.

Last week the William referred to the prize competitors as "modern-day pioneers".

Royal Climate Legacy

The monarch has been a key figure at earlier environmental conferences, delivering the inaugural speech in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the reminder: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".

"For decades I've committed a substantial portion of my life trying to warn of the critical dangers challenging our world over planetary heating, global temperature increases and biodiversity loss," the sovereign addressed delegates.
