The Renowned Musician Urges Public Help to Get Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A campaign is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The campaign seeks to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Chance for Support and an "Chart Upset"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to support Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an surprise number one.
“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”
Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.
“It has a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”
Track's Background and Featured Artists
The track was produced after a solidarity show held in September. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the piece was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.
The diverse array of performers featured on Lullaby includes a group of acclaimed names from the industry. All took part in the earlier concert, which managed to collect a substantial amount for relief efforts.
Production and Release
Lullaby was crafted by a team of talented individuals. The song features a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.
The group managing the initiative have stated that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These proceeds will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.
“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a representative said. “We will pursue as much as possible. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The context in the area was noted for its widespread damage, with a overwhelming percentage of property described as destroyed or damaged.
“In that context, a couple of million doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is first of all raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The track is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
