The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Displeasure Over Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Changes
Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
