Trump Calls Families of Injured Military Members to White House
Former President Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the loved ones of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the executive mansion.
He mentioned that he conversed with her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a violent incident on Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in grave state.

White House Offer
The president explained he’s talked about a White House visit for the parents of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president told the press. “And likewise with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”
Community Response
Community members gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to honor Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s national effort to assist public safety in Washington DC.

“Sarah was the type of pupil that instructors wished for. She behaved with calm resilience, a bright grin and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” the principal, the leader of her previous school, stated to the media. “She was sweet, compassionate and always willing to help others.”
Memorial arrangements for Sarah are still being arranged.
Legal Steps and Policy Changes
Officials have charged a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and charges of violent assault while armed.
The incident caused the Trump administration to suspend refugee claims and cease issuing visas to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Wolfe
Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, per the Associated Press.
He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Morrisey said on television.
Attorney general the attorney general told the program that she also intended to meet with his relatives.
Impact of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a law enforcement officer with honor, according to the state guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had courage,” the governor informed the crowd at the vigil. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
